Hi, I’m V. It’s not my real name or even close to my real name, but I’m also Vigilo on deviantART and vigilo on 8tracks as well as vigilo on Goodreads, and I’ve been other pretentious Latin usernames that start with V elsewhere on the internet for around six years now, so V works!
I run a Tumblr blog called doseofdiverselit, which focuses on recommending diverse literature that's both free and online. On my deviantART, I also have a weekly 'Wednesday recs' feature that is pretty much the same thing. (:
The Archer Who Shot Down Suns: Scale-Bright Stories
on Aug. 19, 2014
I stumbled across this about a week ago while I was looking for diverse literature to recommend, and I have to say, this is probably one of the best collection of short stories I've read all year, and one of my favourite books I've read all year, too.
I'm not really what else I have to say, but I found the writing absolutely lovely, and the plot for each short story very engrossing. Being a mythology-obsessed fiend, seeing the people from the Chinese mythology stories become fascinatingly fleshed out and engaging characters was just great. I'm definitely going to buy Scale Bright at a later stage, when I have the time, because the quality of the writing in this collection absolutely has me sold.
Thanks for the lovely read!

A lot of original, deftly told fantasy stories that maintain with a wide range of characters. 'Judgement of Swords and Souls' was my favourite; as was 'The Faithful Soldier, Prompted', but all the stories were well-written and the quality was very consistent. A really enjoyable read all in all!
