"A Place with a Creek and Shade" is an eclectic mixture of fun to read short stories. Two are narratives of chance encounters and interactions with interesting individuals. The first takes place at a small town bookstore and the other at the historic Fort Worth stockyard. The other five stories are speculative fiction about geomancers, visitors from the skies, creatures from the swamp, and death. I enjoyed reading all the stories. My favorite was "The Last Onset."
