A truely enjoyable read! I was captured by the story, and could not put it down.
It has a Jane Eyre feel to it. Is there a mad woman in the attic?

"Silent Moon" was a delightful book that was hard to put down. When I did put it down, I would actually look forward throughout my day to reading it next. The mystery kept me guessing from the beginning to the end. The writing had the flow and feeling of a Jane Austen book but the fantastical excitement of any of the best vampire/werewolf books I've read.

Silent moon was written as though the writer was actually a participant, though the time frame and place are way beyond our current life. For the unskilled in reading, it takes a few chapters to understand the language, or shall I say the semantics. After immersing yourself into the life which Serina has created in this story, one starts thinking and talking like a character within the story, it's all-consuming. Without giving away the punch-line, things reversed themselves in this wonderful tale.

I would and will recommend this novel to everyone I know. Miss Dorie has a wonderful way of storytelling and bringing a new twist to a myth that has been around for thousands of years. I was so engrossed with Silent Moon that I couldn’t put it down until it was done. I won’t spoil it for future readers, but from someone who can usually figure out who the bad guy is and how things will end, Miss Dorie kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Give her the highest praise I can think of for spellbinding me. Definitely worth every penny.

Being that I’m always on the lookout for engaging YA paranormal romances with interesting stories, I was delighted to read Sarina Dorie’s ‘Silent Moon’! I was able to relate to the main character, Cassia and appreciated her stubborn and sometimes snarky attitude- The story stayed interesting and the ending wasn’t at all what I was expecting! I highly recommend reading this book, looking forward to reading more books by this author set in her ‘Dartanian’ world…

I don't normally read paranormal romances, so Silent Moon, by Oregon author Sarina Dorie, reminded of Beauty and the Beast. The book opens with Cassia awakening in the forest next to a bloody corpse, with no memory of how she got there. There are mysterious murders, a forbidden room in the manor, hidden doors, a ghost's diary and multiple suitors. The story starts out slowly, but there are lots of twists and turns as it nears the finale. The transformation wasn't the one I expected.

Wow…what a great read. I read a lot of books, but there are a lot of books that I don’t finish because I get board. This is one of the few that I could not put down and finished within just a couple of days. The writing is great and entertaining. Cassia is a great female character; she is strong but still unsure of what is going on in her life. This is a great romance story that is good for any age. I am in my early 30’s and fell in love with the story, but I have recommended it to the middle school students that I teach. The only thing that I have found that I don’t like is that the author does not have any other books for me to read!

Silent Moon begins a little slowly, but as the story builds you are drawn into the dark and confusing world of a young woman who doesn’t really know who or what she is, and isn’t even sure what she remembers. Things are not always as they seem, and sometimes a girl doesn’t know who to trust. Cassia, who is stronger than she realizes, comes to love and understand the people and creatures surrounding her in this dark, magical world. Or does she? This story reminds me of the quintessential Gothic novel, Ann Radcliffe’s The Mysteries of Udolpho. And as the previous reviewer says, I can imagine Austen’s heroine Catherine Morland sneaking away to read this during her trip to Bath, and allowing it to drive her imagination while visiting Northanger Abby. It might have made Catherine’s imaginings a little more upsetting for the Tilney family. Despite the vapors that go along with being the heroine of a Gothic romance, Cassia is made of sterner stuff than her eighteenth century progenitor at Udolpho – and this is truly a magical world. If you like romance, sprightly prose and a strong story, you will like Silent Moon.

Surrounded by mysteries, Cassia is torn between two romances -- one with the charming Lyle and the other with his instantly off-putting but strangely compelling brother Kellan. Ghosts, werewolves, secrets of the night... "Silent Moon" is the sort of novel that I could picture Jane Austen's characters or the women in a Bronte novel stealing away to eagerly read in secret. There's a lot of heart in "Silent Moon," especially in the friendship that Cassia develops with the young boy Fen, and I loved the sense of mystery throughout -- which came with an excellent payoff at the end. Sarina Dorie's writing style is light and fun, with a sarcastic edge. I'd be happy to read just about anything by her.
