Barbara Boswell Brunner reminds me of James Alfred Wight (some of you may know him as James Herriot) in her writing. She writes straight from experience, but has a way of telling the story so you feel like you are right there. You melt yourself into the story, and feel the feelings as if you were right there. Through the stories in this book, you grow to love these dogs, and these people. You learn their lifestyle, and the lessons that each dog brings in it's addition to the family. This is a book to savor. I laughed, and cried, and knew exactly what they meant about so many of the things that happened - having owned several dogs in my lifetime, myself.

If you've ever 'rescued' a dog, whether to keep as a 'forever pet' or just to foster, you will understand and sympathize with every story, every laugh, and every tear. Somehow these amazing creatures make us want to be better, if for no other reason than just to be a better friend to them.

What an enjoyable book! I couldn't put it down. The stories of Barbara's dogs leaped from the pages and had me laughing and crying. Even though Barbara had some difficulties with her dogs, she did not give up on them, but she also knew that dogs require proper training too! I highly recommend this book to anyone, not just dog lovers!

I loved the book. Laying on the bed with Kingers I read the entire book in one reading. I could not put it down. Each story she told I could close my eyes and see either Kingers or Bo! While reading the book it took me back to some very very happy times with Bo and some very very sad times. I was talking to Kingers - reminding him when he ate the linoleum off the basement steps and when he ran through the fields in the rain chasing rocks.
I met the Germans and loved to read about their fun adventures. I felt the tears run down my face with Izzy's struggles and I smiled with her triumphs.
I highly recommend this book for any DOG LOVER! You will be able to relate...you will feel her happiness and her pain. Excellent READ!

Barbara tells the stories of the dogs she and her husband have loved and shared their lives with in an entertaining, can't-put-it-down book you'll be happy to own.

Any pet lover can relate to the heartwarming, outrageously funny, and sometimes sad happenings of a house full of dogs. These dogs are truly family members in this home, and the personality of each and every one comes to life from the pages.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll feel like you know and love these dogs yourself - the sign of a great book!
