Sara M. Barton is the author of several fast-paced mystery and thriller series featuring lively characters, including the feisty, funny innkeeper and amateur sleuth, "Miz Scarlet"; the gutsy, good-hearted Deputy Gabby Grimm; artist/decorator Sydney Stansfield (wife of FBI gent Henry Hartman), and the former "Marigold Flowers", event planner, whose life in the WitSec program was anything but ordinary.
The author's passion for writing fiction comes through each tale. "There is nothing sweeter than sticking characters in the hot seat and making them find their way out of the darkness. I'm fascinated by human behavior and I love to see characters grow as they go through tough times. Life is never fair, but I believe in heroes, those people who don't take no for an answer, who put the greater good ahead of 'me, me, me'. But most of all, I enjoy a good story, seasoned with action, memorable characters, unpredictable behavior, and a monkey wrench big enough to jam up the best laid plans. It's the perfect human storm."

Gripping, suspense-thriller! I found this book very hard to put down; it had me intrigued and hooked right from the start. Sara writes in an easy reading style, and whether or not it is aimed at younger readers this older reader found it very entertaining and enjoyable. The characters come to life and you feel that you are there with them albeit as an observer. Suspense all the way through with a few lulls to make you feel you can relax then wham – something happens to take you out of your comfort zone and you again have to deal with a dangerous culprit. It seems that terrorists have come to Latimer Falls, and disrupted the idyllic life of the sheriff, and his deputy who have moved there to lead a quiet life and to get away from the “crime capitals” and other traumatic experiences. The way Gabby explains it “…it’s not like we had that much crime to worry about. The occasional teenage pranks… [stuffing] a scarecrow into the town’s commemorative cannon in the town square.”, “… joyriding through town in [a stolen pickup truck]”, terrorists are not the usual visitors to Latimer Falls. The story is a gripping and suspense filled thriller with just enough twists and turns to keep you wondering what’s going to happen next.
Thank you Sara, for the opportunity to read this book. I enjoyed it immensely and I look forward to reading #2.

So this is the third book by Sara Barton that I have read this weekend. I am still willing to read more of Sara's work. This is the first book in the Gabby Grimm Fairy tale Mystery series. It is different from her Bard Bed & Breakfast.
Gabby Grimm is a deputy working with seven males in the sheriff office in Vermont in a little town. She is checking out a call at a cabin in the woods. When someone wearing a mask got the drop on her and sprayed her face with a chemical and kissed her. The chemical reacted and she was high as a kite after.
When she and her fellow deputy went back out to check the area they found a probably dead body in the cabin they thought looking through the windows. While waiting for forensics the propane tank exploded at the cabin.
Thier quite little town had terrorists all over. Special Force team asked Gabby for help finding a kidnapped family of the dead guy.
From thier is a lot of action and drama as one event after another happens. Everytime you think they are safe something else happens or they figure out what is really going on.
I like Gabby and her co-workers and would like to see more of them in the future.
Gabby's live in a guest house on her father's farm. He made a lot of money and moved to small town in Vermont and got a few different things going.
The Snow White theme is used in little pieces here and their. Gabby does have a step-mother but she is nice and caring.
It was a engaging novel can't wait to read the next Gabby Grim novel.
I was given this ebook to read by the author and asked to give honest review of it.

I enjoyed this fun, well written mystery very much. The plot was well thought out and executed nicely with a good writing style. Gabby is a delightfully strong and soft heroine who does what she needs to do. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.
