I have written stories and poetry my entire life. My first novel, 'Always' is just out. It is the first in a series. Although the other stories will be mythological/fantasy/spiritual romances, 'Always is more New Age/Spiritual/Romance. My poetry is New Age Spiritual.
I have an Associate's Degree and Bachelor Degree in Humanities and am an alumnus of Alpha Chi.
As my brother once told me, I have written stories and poetry since I first learned to read and they put a pencil in my hand. What greater adventure than to create stories?

Always tells the story of two souls who have been intertwined for many lifetimes and are now incarnated as Simon, a lone wolf who refuses to get close to anyone and April, the teenage niece of Simon's best friend. When April sets her sights on Simon, he rejects her for many reasons: her age, her immaturity and the vehemence with which his best friend, April's uncle, forbids their relationship. But, if love can transcend time and dimensions, it can also overcome such obstacles.
The story of their current incarnation is woven together with their previous one, as well as the time they spend in between "lives" in the great beyond. By seeing the full picture, you get to understand not only Simon, but the other characters as well, and see how their various relationships play out. Not to mention the sweet love story between Simon and April - who doesn't stay a child for long!
I've heard that the author is planning more books to follow this and I am looking forward to them!

Always is an enjoyable journey, one that takes some surprising twists and turns. Just when I had settled into the colorful and playful lives of Simon and April I was thrown back to a darker and deadlier past with seemingly unrelated characters. "Seemingly," because the stories are actually nicely interwoven as you jump from one environment to the next. This is a rare book that makes me want to go back and read it again to find all of the connections I likely missed the first time around. Since it is hard not to like the characters in Always, I'm sure it won't be long until I do just that. I hope to see more like this from DM Yates in the future.

I read this book in one sitting. The characters are expertly detailed and the plot riveting. If this is the first I can't wait for the others. Well done to the author for a novel with a difference. Heartily recommended.
