The Time Tunnel
Time has stopped everywhere in the universe except near fragments of Time Crystal. School-girl Catriona descends the Time Tunnel searching for scientist Michael Zhang who, she thinks, needs her crystal so he can restart time, unaware that he has been transformed into an extra-universal alien. More
In the first volume of the Time Crystal Series, The Cosmic Monopole, two men were absorbed by a black hole at CERN and found themselves floating in an ocean of pink jelly. Chinese-Irish scientist Michael Zhang swallowed some of it and his mortal life ended. But he did not die. He was transformed into a gigantic larva with god-like knowledge. He realised he was outside the universe on a Cosmic Egg, part of the life-cycle of extra-universal aliens called Entroilians.
To stop other humans following him and gaining such knowledge, Michael broke the shell of the Egg and time stopped everywhere in the universe except near shell fragments, which appeared in CERN as blue Time Crystals. If you held a crystal you were alive; without it you were frozen in time.
The second absorbed man was Irish school-teacher Sam Fitzpatrick. Still tiny and trapped in the Cosmic Egg’s shell, he could see and talk to people on Earth who had crystals. He told his step-daughter, school-girl Catriona, to bring the fragments of Crystal down a tunnel so Michael could restart time.
Catriona appealed for help to handsome Hungarian entrepreneur Count Alex Karolyi. She was infatuated with him, even though she suspected that he was in love with the beautiful CERN guide Marianne. She had lost her baby when she was hit by a crystal, but had befriended Catriona.
Alex reluctantly agreed to go with Catriona, but fire-fighter George Gabor considered that the crystals belonged to CERN and tried to stop him.
So Catriona entered the tunnel alone. Meanwhile the Cosmic Egg, with Sam still hidden inside it, is stolen by an Argolath, enemies of the Entroilians.
In this volume Catriona finds herself in a medieval Geneva infested with plague and religious upheaval while Sam becomes entangled with an Argolath of his own size as Michael dictates his account of history and his hidden private diary.
