In this short story Jevan, his squire, and another Knight Hospitaller are being pursued by a band of Muhammadan warriors. With the second knight injured, Jevan devises a plan to draw the warriors after him alone while the others escape. His ruse works better than expected and then goes terribly wrong. He soon finds himself underground in a labyrinth with a strange half human, half scorpion guard that he and one of the Muhammadan warriors must defeat. But more treachery awaits and it is only Jevan's knowledge of mythology and history along with his sword skill that will see him through this adventure.This story is 8600 words, approximately 14 book pages.
