First off I want to thank the author Jack Chaucer for writing such an amazing novel and donating half the proceeds of this novel to the Newton Memorial Fund. This was a great coming of age novel that delves into the occurrence of school shootings and bullying that has become an epidemic as of late. The main character Nikki really brings this story together, she is a very strong-willed young lady and is more together at 17 yrs old than some people I know. She displays a great deal of courage and strength throughout the entire book, I was amazed by how well she dealt with a lot of things and that she did it with such understanding. This is very rare in adolescents today and she is an angel in my opinion I don't want to give too much of the story away so I'm not going to get into specifics. I'll just say that this novel touches on a lot of topics that face adolescents today, you are immediately pulled into the characters lives from the first few pages. I was so involved in this story that I was over half-way done before I knew it. Very fast paced read and written in a way that opens your eyes and heart to what's going on in the world around us. The message I came away from this book with was one of understanding and courage. People should always stand up for what is right no matter the consequences. Bullying should never be tolerated under any circumstance, we were all made to be different and it's about time people started celebrating those differences instead of pointing them out. I give this novel 5 gold stars!!!
