Extended description

The bestselling* guide for ukulele beginners, written specifically FOR beginners.

Concerned at the lack of answers to obvious ukulele questions for those just starting out, and the prescriptive nature of the tuition books, I started a blog, and now a book that aims to redress the balance.

This guide provides concise, no-nonsense answers to the obvious questions that the tuition books miss. This isn't a tutor book, think of it more as an owners manual to get you kick started!

With chapters dealing from everything, from ukulele sizes, prices and strings to how to grow your nails. Also includes reference section and a very helpful glossary explaining those weird and wonderful terms that may baffle a beginner.

The book is aimed at being read in conjunction with other tuition, to provide some balance, and empower the new uke player without making them feel restricted by rules.

*number one selling book in the UK Kindle music chart December 2011*

This is a wonderful book for beginners, and even more seasoned players can find some useful information. I thoroughly enjoyed and readily recommend it.

As a beginner, this book was excellent and really helped me in making me into a good Ukulele player. The author is funny, and knows what he's talking about. It teaches you the things other teachers don't think about and you may feel wrong asking! I highly recommend it!

I have been playing the ukuelele for a year now but have not really tried to learn anything about the instrument as I came from a guitar background. This book taught me so much in short a short space of time I couldn't believe it. This book i think teaches all levels of pkayers good informative information in a way that is non condescending and helpful! Highly recommended!

Very handy book this - I read it quite quickly, but will go back to it for reference. Highly recommended if you are starting out with ukulele, if you are thinking of it, if you play but dont understand some of the techy stuff, or even just for a good read.

5 stars.

I'm a beginner ukulele player who has been slowly progressing through some tutor books bought at christmas. This is a great read and as it says, it really does answer many questions that I had in my head.

I only wish I had bought the book before I bought my ukulele, as I see now that I could have bought better. Still, the tips on strings are great and I have ordered some new ones.

It's also quite funny too (a dry humour) but it is never patronising and understands that many beginners dont have a clue what they are doing with the uke.

For the price, I really would highly recommend to anyone thinking of buying a uke, or just bought one and feeling a little lost.
