What do I pray? What words express my thoughts and feelings? David Hicks, a Presbyterian pastor, answers beautifully by providing a collection of heartfelt prayers for everyday and some special occasions. These provide models that may be accessed and adapted quickly. There are also some novel prayers, such as prayers for children's nightmares. I hope that he continues to write. Perhaps in another edition, he will write prayers for those who are sick and dying. Janet

For the layperson who is often called on for prayer in various situations, this book is extremely helpful. It suggests a way to say what we are feeling but cannot express adequately.

Many times when asked to lead a group in prayer it is difficult to come up with the words or sentiment. This well written book of prayers can fill the need for a prayer or offer a framework for an individual specific prayer. The format of the book makes it easy to access even when asked to pray on the spur of the moment.
