Success in relationships, time management, goal setting, overcoming one's fears, developing a life purpose, living in the moment, the importance of yoga... all of these and several more areas of self-help and personal development are covered in Jerry Lopper's Sample Personal Development Plan and Workbook.
It's the book's incredible breadth which makes it different to so many personal development manuals. This breadth is probably both the book's most commanding strentgth, and its likeliest weakness.
The manual's breadth is good in the sense that it provides a panoramic view of personal development for people wanting to do some work on themselves but aren't sure where to start. Lopper's self-development questionnaire, and clear explanation of the eighteen dvelopment modules, gets the self-help newcomer away to a good start.
Tremendous breadth can, however, lead to a loss of depth. For that reason, it's important that anyone doing the work described in any of the modules knows that they can dig much further than the book describes. Although Lopper does reference further reading in some of the modules, I feel that his book would be better were there more of this.
Overall, it's a useful, well-written manual for anyone taking their first conscious steps into self-development. It's important, however, that neophytes know that there's a great deal more reading available in each of the chosen modules.

Jerry Lopper’s Sample Personal Development Plan and Workbook is a short, but fully stocked book designed to help personal growth and to ultimately find happiness and purpose. It is for anyone who seeks to improve their quality of living.
Beginning with a personal questionnaire to help readers define which areas of life need improvement, the workbook helps readers properly focus from the onset. The book is structured on eighteen modules, each one defining a different aspect of life – an area of potential improvement – and offering practical advice.
The workbook emphasizes the idea that one needs to choose to change – something many readers may not yet understand. The book digs deep when it comes to personal problems, and some readers may find it difficult, at first, to comply with the book’s suggestions. This is a good thing, as it means that the concepts presented in the development plan can truly touch people.
The Sample Personal Development Plan is comprehensive in that it includes advice and practical activities on a wide range of personal issues, from mind and body health, to relationships, to emotional health. The workbook helps readers learn positive attitudes and actions, as well as healthy lifestyles both for their body and their mind.
The workbook neither sways away from, nor mocks, nor embraces the idea that a life purpose is given by God. Rather, it helps to find meaning through the things people do that make them who they are. Regardless, the development plan includes several aspects discussed in the New Testament – qualities and behaviours that are inbred in good people, whether they know it is Biblical or not – and that is admirable. Jerry Lopper’s understanding of the importance of beliefs and values, as well as the ability to quiet one’s mind and refocus life, shows through the writing.
The Sample Personal Development Plan is well supported, as it references and suggests several other books which may be useful in learning to set proper goals and values and living well in general.

“The Sample Personal Development Plan” by Jerry Lopper takes the reader on a journey that begins with an excellent tool for self assessment, and continues though a comprehensive plan that shows how to maximize one’s strengths for a happier and more fulfilling life. The Plan focuses on strengths, not weaknesses. With a refreshing simplicity it shows in detail how to make one’s ongoing personal growth and development as uncomplicated and as effective as possible. The author also recommends some of the best of other books available on specific aspects of this subject for anyone who might be interested. I highly recommend this workbook to anyone who cherishes continued personal growth and development, and the happiness and fulfillment it can bring.
