Short description

What do you do when your ship is about to hit an asteroid? Why, you jump in your Corp-provided Duplipod, of course. It's foolproof. It records your brain patterns, then kills you. The Duplipod will grow you a new body when it's safe; you will awake refreshed and renewed. Sometimes, it doesn't work quite right. Duplicate: would you die to save your own life?

Fast-paced, intelligent, engaging writing. Keeping track of multiple narratives from the "same" character was a really interesting mental journey.

Transparent prose, multiple viewpoints from the same character, and some healthy violence to go along with the philosophical conundrums. Who could ask for more?

Quite entertaining. I grew bored with most scifi quite some time ago, but found this to be original and engaging. Alex manages to tell a story as a good story with only as much scifi adornment (e.g. made up words, inexplicable pseudo-cultures) as is necessary to tell the story well. I highly recommend this on its own merits and to encourage Alex to write more.

This is a very good sci fi read. The book follows the main character who is a miner that works in space. He crashes then he needs to save himself, as in the data of himself, so he can be cloned later. The book tackles the idea of is a clone really the same person. The book is well written and the characters are believable. I would read more by this author and I recommend the novella highly as an enjoyable and thoughtful read.
