I loved this short story. It had everything a good book should have. It had romance, humor and everything in between. I can't wait for "Burden of Blood". So I highly recommend this short story. And be prepared to be left wanting more.

Blood Awakening is a back story into the beginning of Nichols powers. This short story gives you insight of what is to come for Nichol and Kat in “Burden of Blood” Wenona Hulsey’s upcoming debut novel. It was a great short read and I look forward to the release of “Burden of Blood”.

I admit I bought this story because Wenona Hulsey is a fellow book club member. But that worked to my advantage. This really is a great read!
I really enjoy the interaction between Nicole and Kat,especially their discussion of 'granny underpants',LOL. So,you know there is humor. There is also great fore-shadowing,for e.g.,when a chill runs up Nicole's spine and an inner voice tells her to flee. And that eerie dream...
But who and what is that 'thing' she has to flee? And WHAT has he already done to her?! Can leaving Florida and returning to Alabama take her far enough away?
But there is more... A really cute love-interest,who happens to be a great kisser!! And who wants to get to know her better. Hmmm, sounds like a hot romance will be developing here.
So,do I recommend this story? Darn right,I do. As soon as I came to the end,I needed to check to see if this was a prequel to a book. Happily,it is. Nicole's and Kat's story continues in the book,'Burden of Blood',coming out in August 2011. I guess I can survive the cliffhanger until then?!

Awesome story! That will lead to an even awesomer (not a word) series. This makes for a good background, and has good, dynamic characters. It also involves situations that most people can relate to, good and bad. I think it will turn into something spectacular.
