Carlton, the pilot on shift for one year in the middle of the transit, is resigned to an extremely boring year, with little to do except monitor instruments. Then sensors detect an unexpected object ahead, and what he and his shipmates discover will change their conception of the universe forever.

Passing in the Night received an Honorable Mention in the 2nd Quarter 2011 L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest.
