Amazing book! Great introduction to the series. I loved that this is a prequel introducing us to all the yummy characters to come. Not a lot of BDSM or even sex. But, this sets up the series and the relationship between the principal characters very well.

Absolutely fantastic reading. Kallypso does a wonderful job of weaving her stories in such away that you feel as if you are part of the story. The Rescue Me series is hands down my favorite all time BDSM/Erotica series! I became fascinated with Masters Adam Marc and Damian and can't wait for Masters Luke and Gunnar and Mistress Grant!!! Rest assured that the series is one you won't want to put down. Don't forget to read the books in order as the characters are all intertwined with one another. Enjoy and come visit us at the Club!!!

Masters at Arms is a collection of vignettes that acts as a prequel to the Rescue Me series. Kallypso Masters thoroughly develops the backstory for the main characters for her future novels: Adam Montague, Marc d’Alessio, and Damian Orlando. Intricately interweaving their growing friendship while in the armed forces, the events that scarred and bonded them together, and their meetings with the women who will bring them to their knees, Kallypso creates intense anticipation for her future novels where her characters will find their happily ever after. Upon finishing Master at Arms, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Nobody’s Angel, Marc’s story.

It was a great premise. I love how all the characters were well thought out. All three men have had their ups & downs. They deserve to find love. Damien & Savi's story sounds like it will be a very emotional book. I look forward to them. My only drawback is that it was a huge tease!

I absolutely love how these series is started. I love meeting each character and then seeing how the men all form this "family". The reader is immediately unable to put the book down when they start each section because we want to get to know the men so much better. Savi and Damien will be a very highly anticipated book because I want to see what happens to these too lost souls.

My review from Goodreads below:

What a great way to start a series. The prequels were all wonderful and showed me how their individual stories and journeys began. This is my first book by this author and I really got a feel for her writing style which I loved. She writes smoothly and the transition from one section to another went seamlessly.

Prequel to Adam’s story Nobody’s Hero

Adam is just yummy and the way he is described in this section and how he is dealing with the loss of his wife is so touching. Fate has him in the right place at the right time to save a young Karla from danger. This chance encounter intern saves Adam by giving him a reason to go on with his life. Maybe it’s because he is the oldest and closer to my age but I believe I’m going to love his story the most.

Prequel to Damian’s story Nobody’s Perfect

Damian comes from the poor side of town and has had some hard knocks in his young life. A chance encounter with a beautiful young girl becomes the pivotal change in his life. Savannah is so broken and has given up but when Damian rescues her from a very bad scene she see that not all men are evil. Yep…this story’s going to keep me up all night reading.

Prequel to Marc’s story Nobody’s Angel

Marc is dealing with issues of responsibility to his family versus what he wants out of life for himself. All I can say is when the opening scene is him turning down the stereo that is playing Bocelli I was hooked. Anyone who listens to Andrea Bocelli has great taste! I can personally attest to the fact that Bocelli in concert is magnificent! I think Marc’s story will be interesting and like with all the others in this series smoking hot!

This story then describes how these three prequels intertwined and added more depth to these men and this series. I really enjoyed how it all started and I didn’t feel that they were disjointed but seamless from one to the other. I’ve already purchased Nobody’s Angel and Nobody’s Hero and I’m waiting for Nobody’s Perfect to be available.

I recommend reading this book first to truly enjoy and understand this series.

OMG I had this on my Kindle for quite some time and I could kick myself for not reading it sooner! What I expected to be a story about about 3 ex-military guys who decide to open a BDSM club was a 1000% time more then what I expected. It is an amazing story about three men and what brought them together and the development of the characters had me hook right from the beginning. I LOVE THE SERIES WITH ALL MY HEART AND I LOVE MASTER ADAM AND DAMIAN!!!

There is so much going on I really don't know where to begin. First off, this book introduces us to each of the men with their own story in parts. We meet Master Adam and his story had me reaching for tissues as we discover a Marine (Master Sergeant) who demonstrates loyalty, faithfulness, dedication, caring, and a protective nature that had me wanting to reach out and hold him in my arms to take away his pain. In his story we don't see any erotic scenes but see a very, sexy, alpha Dom who is always willing to take care of others even if it means making sacrifices to himself including protecting a young, teenaged runaway on a cold Thanksgiving night in a Chicago bus terminal. Not only does he save the girl from danger she in a way saves Adam from himself.

We meet Damian who is trying hard to move on with his life after a rough start and has finally find a place for himself. That is until a beautiful young woman looks his way and touches his heart and he see her inner beauty and hurt. Circumstances throw the two together where they escape to their own little paradise for a day where nothing and no one bad can touch them, but the moment is fleeting and leaves the reader aching.

Marc seems to have it all, extremely good-looking, rich, successful and can have any woman he wants, but because of a broken trust cannot allow himself to get close to anyone again. The trust not only destroyed his chances of truly loving anyone again it destroyed him as well and has guilt eating him away. Never feeling that he could live up to his family's expectations and the feeling of suffocation he joins the Navy to have a sense of purpose (he becomes a Navy medical corpsman for the Marines).

What occurs next in the story is how the three come together and the terror of war that puts their trust in each other and the development a bond that can never be broken. After each goes through their own horrors they get together after coming out of the Marines to start a BDSM club that saves them from their own demons and becomes their lifeline.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!! You have to read this book first before preceding to read the next one as it gives you a fantastic understanding of each character's personality. These characters are so HIGHLY developed that they become real and ALIVE to the reader. You feel that they are standing right beside you as you live the experiences with them (Mmmm would love to be standing beside Master Adam and rubbing my hands up his chest and broad shoulders and ummm, yes right, back to the review, sorry). :)

Just make sure you have the other books ready to read next as you will not want to wait a second longer to read Nobody's Angel (book #2) and Master Marc's story.

Found this book at Smashwords because someone recommend it. It's important to read first if you want to know the back-story.
Even if Savannah's and Damián's story was hard to read you'll need the backstory. This book made me want to read Karla's and Adam's story.

Advise - if you want to reread it, check for new versions of the book at your ebook dealer. Kallypso has revised the books and you can re-download them.

This first book of the series sucked me right into the world of Adam, Marc, and Damian... It was portrayed with a realness that sometimes I felt I was reading a biography, not a piece of fiction. It made you feel- It just was not entertainment. I have read the next 2 books also and am waiting (impatiently- lol) for the next one... Kallypso Masters writes with a passion that allows you to feel what the characters feel. A definite must for the erotic romance reader..

Wow! Masters at Arms is hot!

Master Adam, Master Marc and Master Damian are 3 ex-Marines, oops I should know better, once a Marine always a Marine! They take disciple seriously, on and off duty. This prequel is well worth reading. The writing style is excellent, there are no lulls and Masters at Arms keeps you moving right along.

So much so that when I finished and found out that Nobody's Angel (Master Marc's story) was out, I immediately downloaded it and kept on reading! The I finished that and got Nobody's Hero (Master Adam-sigh). When I finished that and found out Nobody's Perfect is not yet out...How do you get teeth marks out of a kindle? Can't wait for Damian and Savi's story.

Masters At Arms is a collection of prequels that will give you a small glimpse into the Rescue Me world created by the talented Kallypso Masters. Having never heard of her work before, I recently discovered her through a blog and was immediately hooked by her post.

Even though this is the introduction to a BDSM series there wasn't a lot of it in this particular installment. See this book is basically setting up past events that will lead the characters to their own stories. I thought this was done very cleverly. So let me tell you about these amazing, even though quite a bit tortured, couples.

Adam and Karla
We start off with this story and it's truly heartbreaking. Adam has just gone through losing his wife to cancer and is on his way back to Camp to train another set of recruits and head back for another tour with the Marines. Karla crosses his path as a runaway teen at a bus station who looks lost and in need of a protector and he steps up to the plate. The connection between them is palpable even while she's still a teenager, he's 25 years her senior and he's in no way interested or looking for romance. But that night they rescued each other and turned their lives around. Maybe for some people that age difference might be a problem, but I think it worked well in the story and I can't wait to see how their story develops throughout the series and see them becoming a couple.

Damian and Savi
Savannah's story brought tears to my eyes. Coming from a wealthy family you would expect her life to have been roses but in fact the hell she's experienced just cannot be put into words. She was raped by her father who has then been pimping her out not for sex but for pain. Until one night at her fathers' hotel, and while she was with "clients", a young, hot, latino bus boy comes to her rescue after hearing her screams. She feels like she reached the end of the road and at least she can have one night of being cared for and loved before she contemplates ending her own life. And Damian is just a gentleman, kind-hearted and just what she needed. Of course Damian goes through his own hell after he enlists in the Marines. I think these two will need to go through a lot of healing before they can be together but it will definitely be rewarding to see them get their HEA.

Marc D'Alessio
We don't get to meet his intended HEA in this book. Thank God for that because he starts off with an ex-girlfriend who apparently cheated on him with his own brother and I was a bit concerned that he would end up getting back with her. However, in the hopes of running away from her and to honor the memory of his brother, who died while in the military, he enlists as well. War can definitely change a person, show you what life can be about, what people around you are worth. Even though he was not able to say goodbye to his brother on his own terms, I feel he might be the less emotionally damaged of the bunch. His story will be next in the series so I'm excited to see what's in store with Master Marc, who is the one we get to see more in action in this book.

Be warned some of the things described in this book might be difficult to read for some as it does touch on emotional subjects such as war, the death, physical and emotional injuries it leaves behind. There is also the mention of rape and some abuse. However, all these topics are only talked about briefly and you could say superficially so you don't have to go through the actual events.

Adam, Damian and Marc decided to open a fetish club after retiring from the military and so Masters at Arms will be opening its doors. I can't wait. I am very excited to continue this series as it promises to be raw, emotional and very hot!

This is a different approach to a prequel to a series because it takes the time to tell a story about each of the three men that define the series. It then goes on to have them meet and develop a friendship. The stories have depth and are satisfying in themselves while setting up the series.

Excellent debut and already I'm interested in teh first novel of this series, Nobody's Angel, coming out on September 30th! This is a well written set up to the love stories of three men, damaged by life and by war. I sorrowed with Master Adam for the loss of his wife; I ached with Master Marc for the guilt about his brother, and I hope Master Damian can find peace even when he couldn't find his lady. I finally got around to reading this one. OMG! Are you sure this is her debut novel? Because it is extraordinary. I'll admit I didn't care for the first chapter about an older man and a runaway teenager, and then the second chapter with the rape of an 8 year old was a huge turnoff. Although neither of these storylines were told in real time I found it disturbing and put it aside. I came back to it this weekend. And I'm so glad I did. It picked up speed and when it started putting the men and eventually the women together I had an ah ha moment and couldn't put it down. It says Master Marcus' book is due out in September. WHEN!? I'm dying for it as well as the others.

A great introduction to the rescue me series. A journey of three men with tortured souls who find each other at one of the darkest, lonliest moments in there lives.

Kallypso has woven emotion and strength into her short prequels, creating a vat that will not only suck you in but eagerly anticipating Master Marcs, Master Adams and Master Damiens stories. ** such a tease ** stomps feet !!! You will want more !!!!

A definite teaser , that will not only have you wanting more but wanting to soothe the poor masters hearts and souls. A great introduction into Kalllypso's writing, Im sure she will be leading us not only into tempation but certainly into a world filled with passion, pleasure and acceptance !! with a storyline to boot ! ** wink wink **

So keep in mind when you do buy Masters in Arms its not a full length story just a prequel into the masters stories to get you warmed up and eagerly anticipating the following stories ;

The release of each book is as follows:
Master Marc - Nobody's Angel, September 2011
Master Adam - Nobody's Hero, December 2011
Master Damian - Nobody's Perfect, February 2012

Kallypso creates enough emotions and storyline throughout this prequel to have your interest piqued , and your emotions in turnmoil with the characters, well placed and well put forth.

I eagerly await all the Masters books !!!!

This is an amazing story which by an means could be true. Very heart wrenching !! I enjoyed the third story the most gave great insight into the characters and depth and aslo created character defintion that Im sure Kally will take forth in her upcoming books.

Book One in the Rescue Me series is a prequel (thank you for a prequel that actually comes out before the rest of the series) to the upcoming stories of Masters Adam, Damian, and Marcus, friends and owners of a BDSM club. The book is told vignette style with a small slice of each man's life explaining where they come from as well as their connection to one another. The author skillfully pulls together each small backstory to offer a bigger picture of these men's lives. It begins with Adam who has just lost his wife of 20 years to cancer as he meets Karla, a 16 year old runaway. My heart bled while reading about Savannah and how Damian saves her one night. Then it's on to Master Marcus and what motivates him to leave his family's business to join the Navy. Each man eventually ends up in the same Marine Corps. unit in war-torn Iraq. The story of each man's connection to one another as well as the path that leads them to owning a BDSM club is just as important, to my mind, as the individual romantic elements.

I am normally not a fan of first books by authors. They do not tend to be very well put together and the writing is often sloppy. So I was a bit leery about purchasing this book. I have never been so happy to be wrong. The writing and editing are professional - no glaring grammatical or spelling errors. It was obvious that the author took great care in getting her continuity and timeline correct and the military jargon and referenced scenes were well researched. Beyond all the technicalities however, the story itself was riveting. I literally could not put it down. I woke up the next morning still thinking about the storyline. Each character came across as real and I became emotionally invested in their stories.

Readers do need to beware though. This story is a PREQUEL. It is merely the backstory and not the main event. Each of the men will have his own story to be published later.
Nobody's Angel - scheduled release September 2011
Nobody's Hero - scheduled release December 2011
Nobody's Perfect - scheduled release February 2012
I do believe this book will be an necessary read before going on to any of the other books. And, for $.99, you can't beat the price.

Bottom line - is this book worth buying? You had better believe it! I am totally in love with this book and really cannot wait for the rest of the series. It's been a while since I've been so moved by a book. Go buy it. Now.

Masters at Arms is Kallypso Masters (Kally) first book in her Rescue Me series. In Masters at Arms, Kally introduces us to three men: Master Adam, Master Marc and Master Damian. The first book is broken into five sections. Each of the first three sections focuses on one of the Masters and gives us a brief look into their lives and possibly their future. In the final sections we learn how the Masters befriend each other and help each other heal both physically and mentally to form an unbreakable bond.

Kally takes you on a roller coaster of emotions in Masters at Arms. You will laugh, cry and shake your head asking why, all the while leaving you wanting more. And OH you will want MORE!!!

I will say that there are a few very powerful scenes in this book that on my first read I had a hard time with. But after my second read I understand that certain things have to happen in order for the characters to grow and change.

I want to say a special THANK YOU to Kally for letting me read and review Masters at Arms. Kally, I have enjoyed the journey that you have taken me on with the Masters in this first book (Masters at Arms) and I hoped that in some small way I helped. I can’t wait to jump in to Nobody’s Angel (Marc’s story, Sept 2011), Nobody’s Hero (Adam’s Story, Dec 2011) and Nobody’s Perfect (Feb 2012).

Wow! That pretty much sums up what I thought of this book. Kallypso sure knows how to draw you into not only the story, but what the characters are feeling emotionally as well.

I loved this prequel and cannot wait for the rest of the series to come out. I am really glad that Kallypso wrote the prequel as I feel that I understand the characters enough to follow them in their journey ahead. In some book series you really don't get enough background information on the characters. This won't be a problem with the Masters At Arms series. Kallypso has done a great job and I think that whatever else she writes, we as readers will be in for a treat!

Once in awhile I come across an author who totally blows me away.....I was asked to review Masters at Arms by first time author Kallypso Masters, I had to chance to start reading it late last night and couldn't stop. Several people in an online group I'm in have been raving about the book and NOW I know why.

Masters at Arms is unique to me, because it is actually sort of a tease, it's a prequel telling the background of three men who go through hell and end up running a BDSM club together. Each man will end up with his own story and Kallypso what a tease you are. The emotions in this "prequel" grab you from the get-go and won't let go. Each section is very emotional each man goes through his own personal hell, then they end up going through a life changing hell together....As a matter of fact, I couldn't put it down, I stayed up until 4:00 am reading it and wanted to scream when I was finished, because I didn't want to be finished!!! I am in love with Master Adam, Master Marc and Master Damian. I cannot wait to read the rest of their journeys. So just to be clear there is no HEA in Masters at Arms, it is giving you the backstory for Master Adam, Master Marc and Master Damian...but don't let that stop you from reading it, you will be hooked and impatiently waiting, like I am for the release of each Master's books.

The release of each book is as follows:
Master Marc - Nobody's Angel, September 2011
Master Adam - Nobody's Hero, December 2011
Master Damian - Nobody's Perfect, February 2012

AND to top it off right now MAA, it's about 58,391 words and is only $.99 on Amazon and Smashwords, Smashwords has all formats.

Naughty D' thinks Kallypso Masters is a new talent to watch out for and I predict she will quickly become a fan favorite. I am excited to be able to say I'm one of her first fans and hopes she remembers me when she makes it big!!!! And Kally...if you'd like to send me a Master of my own, I'd be eternally grateful ;-)
