Thomas Pluck is the Bullet Award-winning writer of the Jay Desmarteaux stories, the Denny the Dent stories, and unflinching fiction with heart. His work has appeared in The Utne Reader, Beat to a Pulp, [PANK] Magazine, Spinetingler, McSweeney’s, Pulp Modern, and elsewhere. He is the editor of the Lost Children anthologies to benefit PROTECT and Children 1st.
Thomas grew up in an industrial pocket of Nutley, a middling New Jersey suburb near the city of Newark, where he sets many of his tales. He has worked in construction sites, shipping piers, drugstores, and underground data centers; he trains in mixed martial arts with cops, ex-cons, and those in between. When not writing or fighting, he enjoys hiking, strongman training, craft beers, archery, and doting on his wife Sarah and their two cats: a rescued Siamese named Charlie, and an irascible twenty pound cat-loaf named Shadow.
He is working on his first novel.
