Interview with Miguel Antonio Ortiz

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. My family moved to New York City when I was 8 years old. I grew up in the South Bronx. I attended The High School of Music & Art, and then The City College.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing fiction when I was a high school student. I graduated from high school in 1963.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is collection of short stories dealing with the life of a young man.
Who are your favorite authors?
Leo Tolstoy, Henry James, William Faulkner, Herman Melville, Gabriel Garcia Marques
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I do pen and ink drawing, photography, woodwork.
