What are your five favorite books, and why?
My five favorite books are Complicated Love, Regress, Church Vixens, Mistress No More and Little Black Girl Lost series. I love these books because the characters are realistic. The authors captures the readers interest and allow the readers to become part of the character's lives.
What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy reading Zane books for pleasure. Zane has been writing the most steamiest and heart racing novels since the mid 90's.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I enjoy reading my books on my IPAD.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
A lot of social networking, radio interviews, book signings and passing out flyers has been so far a great book marketing technique for me. I've developed many new readers around the United States who are anticipating new material from me.
Describe your desk
My desk is anywhere I am.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Newark, NJ. When I was younger I developed a love for writing by writing poems and short stories, and later writing two screen plays when I was in high school. I enjoyed allowing my imagination run wild and inviting other people into the world of my mind. Living and growing up in Newark and inviting so many interesting people in my life influenced my writing. I always say that my life experiences makes in an author.
When did you first start writing?
I remember the first time I began writing I was in the 6th grade. I wrote a poem called "Something on my Mind." I was going through a lot in school and in my personal life. I never spoke about my feelings or things that was going on in my life. That's when I picked up a pen and grabbed a piece of paper and wrote my first poem. That poem "Something on my Mind" won four 4 awards in contests that my parents put me in.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Everyone knows that there are things that go on within the church. Well, I decided to tell that story from the mistress' point of view. As I always say life experience is what makes me an author. One day while I was attending a church I notice a lot of scandalious women around. Some were flirting with men right in front of their naive wives. Some people were quick to make sly remarks about these women only to be in competition right along with them. Since I knew first hand about what goes on behind the close doors, I told the story.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have full control over the content the write and can publish my works after I finish writing and editing. I don't have to worry about saving money to pay overly priced Print on demand publishers. I can also set the price of my book.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
This is my first time publishing with Smashwords. So, hopefully this can become a longer relationship with them than with my other self publishing company.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I get excited when I see people reading my works and see my books available for sale on numerous sites. It can be one, two or people reading it. If people enjoy your work they will tell others about it.
