Interview with Hubert Williams

Published 2015-01-01.
What do you read for pleasure?
I mostly like to read stories of the supernatural and paranormal
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle, only because it is the first and only one I have used.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social networks like Twitter, Google +, Linkedin and word of mouth. Facebook has never worked for me for some reason.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Cushing, Oklahoma. Shortly after that my family began to move through Northern Oklahoma, into and throughout Colorado as my father the pipeline building companies of that era. We moved back to Oklahoma when I was twelve and my parents divorced. All this moving, along with the divorce, left me alone with my imagination which altered my outlook on life many times.
When did you first start writing and did you save your writing?
When I was in middle school. I saved them but most were lost or just left behind during moves, divorces and other occurrences of life.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Ramorsia: A New Beginning began with images I saw in granite walls. It evolved from there. Seriously. In the final version, the only remaining connection to the original idea was Kel-tahr`, the collector of souls. Check it out at Amazon.com
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My wife suggested that I do something with my life once I retired. Suggested...yeah, that's a good word.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has given me another way to publish my stories and get them into your hands so you can read them. Their ideas on book promotion have been invaluable.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Without them nobody would read my stories. I enjoy their feedback through reviews they write and telling friends about my stories.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
There are many joys obtained from writing. I guess the main one for me is knowing that so many people enjoy what I write.
What are you working on next?
The book I am writing now is of the paranormal and supernatural genres. The idea started with a family conversation about occurrences of ghost sightings on our home place, snakes, witch doctors and certain people that I would rather live without.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I narrate audiobooks through ACX and market them through Audible.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Google, Twitter and Goodreads
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
No
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
no
