Interview with K S Collier

Published 2015-08-10.
Describe your desk
My laptop sits in the center with a lamp and all the necessities of normal desks; pens, pencils, paper. There's a notebook next to my laptop for ideas and parts of a novel in progress. I also have two bookshelves next to me loaded with dictionaries, Thesaurus, and many "how to" books on writing, scenes, characters, novels, and more. Above me on the wall are scenes to do with the writing of the my novel. Pictures help place me in the moment, along with my chosen music.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my latest publication is the short story, "Island of Fear." It's about a couple trying to survive a natural disaster on an island in Florida.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing is when my characters come to life inside of me. They take on personalities of their own, and I share their world with them. At times I'm laughing and suddenly I'm reaching for the tissues. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but then when he reads what I've written, he does the same. I hear him laugh aloud and then he's reaching for the tissue box. I snicker.
