Interview with Maverick T Valkyrie

Describe your desk
My Desk is in the corner of my living room. I have a huge bay window that is in front of me, overlooking one of the busiest intersections in Old Charlottetown. I have my Gold colored lamp beside me, on a tall blue bar stool, and it is surrounded by my coffee cup, Large Red Bull, and a small statue of Frank Sinatra, that sings the song "Under My Skin" if you press a little Red Button on it. I always listen to the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Yaz, Stevie Ray Vaughn, La Roux, Meatloaf, Paul Simon, Dire Straits...Lots of Tunes to keep me Pumped for writing.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on a tiny Island, on the East Coast of Canada, called Prince Edward Island. It is a paradise for me. My family would take us kids to a shore (all red sand and clay) where we all would dig for clams, quahogs, bar clams etc. We would PICK Oysters and Mussels that were there in huge amounts also. We always had huge bonfires to cook the seafood on, and while the parents did whatever parents do, we children, would swim in the Ocean, or walk around the shore, looking for Indian arrow heads and Red Pottery clay, to make ashtrays or statues out of. We would also try to catch fish with our hands, hermit crabs, and lots of other little sea creatures like sand dollars and starfish.
I remember these times as being extremely fun and stimulating for my imagination. One of my biggest questions as a child was. "What is out there?" What I meant was, if you kept swimming in the water, would you run into land at some point? The answer was Yes and No, it all depends on how many hundreds of miles you wished to swim. I loved climbing tall sand dunes and searching for treasure on the beach. All of this weekly beach time, simulated my imagination to no end.
