Interview with Melissa Gijsbers

Published 2015-07-02.
When did you first start writing?
I'm not sure when I first started writing. I still have note books and stories from Primary School, so I think it's something I've always done. When I was in high school, I started taking writing a bit more seriously and won some awards for short stories and plays (my only trophy is a writing one). Life took over and I started a business when my oldest son was six months old. I discovered blogging not long after and have been blogging ever since. It was 2011 when I rediscovered my love of fiction, especially flash fiction and writing chapter books for kids. I have been writing for a long time.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I'm the mother to two boys, so usually I'm woken up with one or both of them jumping on me! That's what inspires me to get out of bed each day....
How do you approach cover design?
I'm not a designer, so I have someone else design my cover for me.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
For most of my ereading, I use the Kindle app on my iPad or phone, though I'm discovering other apps on my iPad which opens up books in other formats :)
