Interview with RC Binns

Published 2015-07-13.
Who are your favorite authors?
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edger Rice Burroughs, George Orwell, Shakespeare, Dashiell Hammett, Percival Christopher Wren. There are others, but have enjoyed those above, who have affected my life most.
What are you working on next?
My next book "The Price of Glory."
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Thinking about what to write next, or how to publish my works.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Think of a subject and look online.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes.
What is your writing process?
Do it when the spirit moves me.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
No.
How do you approach cover design?
Just go for it with whatever tools I have. I'm good at creating artwork of most any kind. My key guide is balance, and focus, or visa a versa, depending on what I want to project.
What do you read for pleasure?
I don't read for pleasure, I read for information, and knowledge to understand reality.
Describe your desk
Right now it's frightening.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I really grew up in a Marine Corps barracks, where there were many different characters, from all walks of life, with many stories. However, I found that no matter how different people are, life is always the same old story. In short, a quest to survive, and prosper.
When did you first start writing?
Strangely enough, the notion hit me in grade school. I have no idea why?
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The constitution of the United States.
What's the story behind your latest book?
A strange battle.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I don't know yet?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting something finished.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Sometimes I'm not sure.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I can't answer that question, it's more about writers than any one of few books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Although, the internet on a regular computer offers a great pool of knowledge, when it comes down to it, I prefer good old hard copy.
What do your fans mean to you?
I am just new at publishing, and so far only had a few "fans" of what I've written. However, my hope is that I have, and will, mean something positive to those who read what I have wrote... something that will make them stronger throughout their lives. Passing on hope to others means a lot to me.
