Interview with Tabitha Dye

Published 2016-05-11.
What are you working on next?
Right now I'm working on the second book in The Burden of Trust series. I'm doing my best to have it out in the next 6 months. Readers are telling me after they finish reading The Burden of Trust: The price no one expected to pay. they can't wait 6 months for the next book. It's a pretty great feeling.
Who are your favorite authors?
Hands down my two favorite authors are Nicholas Spark and Kristin Hannah. I can read their novels over and over again.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing is the escape from reality. When the characters take on a life of their own and touch people's live it's inspiring to keep writing more and more.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I was in elementary school and our teacher had given us an assignment to write a story for another classmate. I became enthralled in my story, almost failing the assignment because I was still writing two days later when it was due. What was only supposed to be a two page story turned into ten pages for me. That should have been my sign to be a writer, however, it took me almost twenty years to find my creative storytelling voice.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is still being developed. When I wrote The Burden of Trust, I had a single concept and allowed the characters to take over. There was no pre-determined end. Now that I'm writing the second book in The Burden of Trust series, I find myself more structured and organized with the writing. Maybe it's so I stay on the same story line and don't start talking about aliens. LOL!
What do you read for pleasure?
I do read for pleasure, but not like everyone else does. When reading a book, I enjoy the journey the author is taking me on, but mainly I'm focusing on the writing style, the descriptive words and some of the grammar. When I write a book, I tend to pick up the writing style of what I'm reading. So if I'm writing a love story, I need to read love stories.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love reading off my iPad curled up in bed with a cup of hot tea on the nightstand.
Describe your desk
Organized. If it's messy I can't concentrate because all I want to do is clean it.
