How do you discover the ebooks you read?
By using search engines.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a story concerning my motorcycle exploits - one where I regularly drove an old 1967 BSA A65 Thunderbolt for three consecutive years up and down Scotland in all weathers, and that was in the mid 1990's.
What is your writing process?
Using my great sense of imagination combined with my experiences, education and concerns for my fellow man. I have a surviving daughter who is growing up in a world that seems to be in the throws of destruction - and I want to change the course of events that could harm her in times to come.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Man landing on the moon. It caught my attention as well as imagination.
How do you approach cover design?
To match the storyline.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, 2001, My own three - because they're meaningful..
What do you read for pleasure?
Almost anything... except religious rubbish.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
A Kindle.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth.
Describe your desk
Tidy and efficient.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in an area that was historic as well as ancient. From Stone-age to Druids to Roman occupation to English rape. Fife in Scotland.
When did you first start writing?
When I was studying for my science degree in the eighties.
What's the story behind your latest book?
To raise everyone's' concerns about Global Warming and extremist Islamists. The Dark Ages beckon and the future of mankind is at risk.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like to write.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I haven't met with any success yet, but I'm always hopeful.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I live the parts I write in my head, where some scenes are rather... enjoyable, especially the sex scenes.
What do your fans mean to you?
If I have any fans I like to know I have given them some pleasure in what I've written.
What are you working on next?
A book of short stories.
Who are your favorite authors?
T. E. Lawrence & Ben Bova.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
A coffee and to put logs onto the fire.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
DIY, cooking, walking and looking after my partner, always trying to keep her happy.
What is your worst fear?
That Islam takes over.
