Interview with Michael Burnette, AF7KB
Published 2014-10-11.
What is your writing process?
It's highly technical. I call it, "Bang on it until it's done."
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Finishing and starting the next one!
What are you working on next?
Next up is a guide to the second level of ham radio license, the General class license. Then Extra. Then, I may go back into the files that date from when dinosaurs roamed the earth and resurrect some of my commercial broadcasting related books!
Who are your favorite authors?
Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, and David Foster Wallace come immediately to mind as folks who really opened my eyes to what words could do.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Hunger and an unhealthy aversion to poverty.
How do you approach cover design?
Warily.
What do you read for pleasure?
Everything from Discover Magazine to philosophy books. Not much fiction, though.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a sad old Nook that is on its last legs.
Describe your desk
*looks around* ......... I'm sure there's a desk under there ...................................somewhere ....................................can you maybe describe it?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Driving a truck, hanging out at home, and playing with dogs and radios.
