What are you working on next?
I'm a political activist so there's always something brewing - a cause that needs organizing around, a candidate that needs help with speeches, or a movement in needs of a snarky boost. Determined to leave behind a better world than what was left behind for me.

Cheryl Strayed, Harper Lee, Gloria Steinem, Harold Kushner, Christopher Hitchens
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To get on with it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Stirring up trouble. Running and cycling. Traveling. Hugs.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Word of mouth, Fresh Air
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I remember the first poem I ever wrote! It's not good...but I still like it.
What is your writing process?
I mostly write op-eds and columns these days, for me and others. I usually get inspired by someone or something in the news and then I sit down and write it all out at once. Coming back to it over a few days is helpful...to delete the curse words especially.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
All of Judy Blume's books, as a child, influenced me greatly. I didn't feel as alone in her world.
How do you approach cover design?
I put creative people in charge.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book of all time. It's holy scripture - a tale of forgiveness, empathy, bravery and integrity. Every chapter is a miracle.
What do you read for pleasure?
Depends on the day. I love all genres.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I don't do much e-reading. I like to hold the book in my hands.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth.
Describe your desk
Clean and neat. Orderly.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Mostly in Tampa. It led to lots of daydreaming and character building.
