Interview with Andy Weber

Published 2016-04-14.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer my kindle for reading because of it's muted background and lack of glare when outdoors.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media has helped spread the word about my book quickly and inexpensively.
Describe your desk
Everything is exactly where it should be but there's a 1/4 inch of dust on my pictures frames and computer monitor. I'm organized...not clean.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was blessed to grow up in quiet suburban setting with loving parents and loads of opportunity. I was equally blessed with numerous opportunities to travel the US and world working with underprivileged youth through both service and soccer. This combination has shaped my world lens and greatly influenced how I see youth culture and the impact their surroundings have on them.
When did you first start writing?
College. I enjoy face to face conversation much more than reading, but I discovered the joy of conversing about text in college and it led me to write more.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Becoming a father. It changes you. It challenged the way I thought, and my views and sensitivity evolved instantly.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Simply the off chance that someone out there could benefit from an experience I've had.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It's helped me get the word out!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
A legacy left behind for my family when I'm dead and gone.
What do your fans mean to you?
The world. Those 2 little boys make my world go 'round and are the only fans I need.
What are you working on next?
Whatever inspires me to benefit the next generation.
Who are your favorite authors?
My father, my childhood favorite Gary Paulsen, and Francis Chan.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life. I love life and I enjoy working with kids and coming home to my own each evening.
