Michael Mandaville

Biography

Michael Mandaville is a writer, novelist and screenwriter.His extensive interest in National Security, Geopolitics, and History coalesced in “Stealing Thunder”. He graduated from USC’s prestigious Professional Writing program with a Masters in Professional Writing. He is finishing two novels: a drama “Journey” and a Parisian thriller “A Cold Death.” He has been hired to write scripts and had scripts optioned. He’s worked in Hollywood as a Producer, Line Producer and Unit Production Manager (Directors Guild of America). His film credits include “Taken” produced by Luc Besson and starring Liam Neeson, “American History X” and “Havoc”. He has directed commercials, shorts and documentaries. He received a B.A. from UC Santa Barbara in Philosophy. He attended the B.A. Film program at Columbia College. He was inspired to work in Hollywood by his aunt, Molly Mandaville, serving as Darryl Zanuck's script consultant for 35 years at the famed 20th Century Fox Lot.


“Stealing Thunder” comes from years of research into Communist China’s growing military and political ambitions in Asia. “America has fought numerous wars in the Pacific,” said Mandaville. “It is highly likely that we will have a future conflict with Communist China.” His abiding interest in National Security and Counterterrorism has lead him down an activist path in opposing Terrorism directed at America. With a close associate, he revitalized California’s Bill AB221 which seeks to Divest Pension Funds from investing in companies doing business in Iran. He has written, produced and directed political commercials for prominent bloggers and organizations including “Center for Security Policy”, “The Investigative Project on Terrorism”, DivestTerror.org and CJHSLA.org. He has arranged speakers on Counterterrorism, attended exclusive seminars on Terrorism and written the “Citizen-Soldier Handbook: 101 Ways For Every American To Fight Terrorism.”

He has worked in production on feature films in California, Texas and Paris, France. He worked on “The Kiss” with Terrence Stamp, "Friends of Friends" with Bruce Davison and Sherilynn Fenn, "Blood and Wine" with Jack Nicholson, "Millenium's Child" for Disney/Miramax, "Sensation" with Eric Roberts. "Hail Caesar" with Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey, Jr. and the horror classic "Pumpkin Head II". Michael produced the indie film, “The Almighty Fred”. He has worked on "Chunks of Life" (ABC), "Criminal Obsession" with Telly Savalas and Bob Rafelson’s short film, "Wet". He associate produced the video game "Monty Python's Holy Grail" with Eric Idle. As an executive with Queens Cross Productions, he worked on "Keys to Freedom" with Jane Seymour and Omar Sharif, "The Tunnel" with Jane Seymour and "Tapeheads" with Tim Robbins and John Cusack.
He admits to an addiction of World War II history, is struggling to learn Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page guitar leads and continues to brainstorm on his next novels and non-fiction.
