Frankly, I'm a little shocked at how bad it was after buying this based on the previous reviews. It was very bland writing. The plot was fine, but there was little to no emotional commitment to draw you into the story and characters. It could have be SO much better if the author had spent more time delving into the emotional psyche of the MCs, especially Winston. For what he supposedly went through, Winston was very bland and too stoic. Other works I've read that are similar spend pages on the inner turmoil of the MCs, This one does not. I almost didn't bother finishing it, but I'd paid for it so I did, and would not recommend anyone pay for this.
