Jarpe's previous book (Radio Freefall) is a real gem. In fact, it impressed me so much, I sent him an email encouraging him to write another. When I heard of this new book, I bought it immediately! Machine Intelligence is a very different novel than Radio Freefall, but I still enjoyed it very much. Its a coming of age story that appealed to me greatly and it reminds me of some of the best of RAH and John Varley. Listen people, this ia a true bargain at 99 cents! Very nice work, keep it up Matthew.

Very good story with peaks of excellence! The central character, Technician Morris Taylor, is very very good at his job. However, he is not so good with people, especially women! This story is about how Morris reluctantly rises to the challenges of new demands on a guild mandated "educational" mission to a nearby world. Shortly thereafter, things go very wrong, people die and he ends up finding himself making life or death decisions on a politically "hot" alternative mission. I found myself really enjoying the Morris character and how he found friends, happiness and his true metal under dire circumstance. Mr. Cox, you are a talented writer. Please keep the books coming.
