Lenore Skomal

Biography

Lenore Skomal is a veteran author, career journalist and public speaker with 30 years experience in all forms of media, including print, broadcast and the Internet. She is the author of 17 published books. Her first nonfiction title, “Keeper of Lime Rock: The remarkable true story of Ida Lewis America’s most famous female lighthouse keeper” (Running Press 2002/Globe Pequot 2010) won prestigious honors from the New York Public Library and accolades from Publisher’s Weekly and Booksense. It has been rereleased by Globe Pequot under the title “Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter.” Her weekly humor column which runs in the Erie Times-News has won numerous Society of Professional Journalists awards and the first collection is available in Her self-published anthology, "Burnt Toast." Her literary fiction has been published at Fiction365, and won top honors from Writer’s Digest, WOW (Women on Writing) and the Whidbey Island Writer’s Conference. In addition to writing, she is an engaging public speaker with over 1000 public appearances, book tours and writing seminars. She has taught college journalism and creative writing. She has one son who attends college at Wesleyan University and resides in Erie, Pa. with her husband.
