  • Descent of Blood, The Red Veil Series Book 1 on Nov. 18, 2012

History was always confusing to me.. that hasn't changed.. interestingly enough I love historical fiction.. the story takes place during the war of roses.. something I have limited knowledge of and about 98% of that knowledge I received from other historical fiction works. Although this is my very first supernatural spin. The first few chapters cause my head to swim a bit.. after which I was fused to my kindle.. I have been told that the first few chapters to the book have changed to make for easier reading :D Told from several points of view the story is centered around a very high ranking vampire Severian Pearce and lady Meridian Neville.. Despite her staking and piercing his heart within minutes of their meeting.. Severian feels a great attraction to her.. He recognizes it as the Red Veil.. AAn incredibly rare and strong bond between a vampire and a mortal.. However for them it means more.. sooooo sooo soo much more.. Pearce sides with King Henry, the battlefield is a perfect place for a vampire.. While fighting he comes across Meridian (this is where she stakes him) their mutual attraction is undeniable he agrees to help her whilst hes helping her he falls for her and she for him.. Their love is pure, sweet and PASSIONATE.. The desire they shared was astonishing.. Marx did a wonderful job of luring me into the story as a reader i was transported back in time.. I cannot wait for book 1 if the prequel was THIS AMAZING! and left me with my jaw on the floor i can only imagine what the series will do to me/for me!
  • Semester Aboard: An Urban Fantasy Adventure on Nov. 26, 2012

Ive never wanted to go on a cruise so much in my life! Not because i wanted to run into magics and discover than i too am magic.. However how awesome would that be!! Too bad im too "old" .. Kirke really made it sound like a wonderful adventure.. More than magic takes a look at a floating college that happens to have a group of magical government agents.. A fire elemental, water elemental, werewolf, Mermaid and a used to be wizard.. They befriend our narrator Jen.. And good thing too because Jen is a witch! She didnt know she was magic until a series of events made it clear to the group of magics she was a witch and then they let her in on her secret.. They teach Jen how to do some magic (not very much magic at all) and what it means to be magic.. The spells come in somewhat handy while they are floating along.. Everyone on board the ship is getting sick and after Tom (our used to be wizard) notices some bite marks on one of Jens friends he immediately knows theres a rouge vamp on the loose illegally drinking from the passengers.. The team of magics all work together to try to bring this sucker down and they get a bit more than they bargained for.. They travel all around and have all sorts of magical beings.. The friendships they all shared made me soo envious! i need a group of friends like that.. what i think ive got some! Although theres one thing about the friendships that bothered me.. all the damn secrets they kept from Jen.. They should have a pamphlet "So your Magic".. Oh and the not teaching the girl enough magic.. seriously there was time in between fighting vamps to teach her more than warming herself.. night vision and making sparks just saying! plus why didnt they like get her a magical tutor for after the semester.. how is she supposed to learn this one her own!! Ahh maybe the second book will answer that for me..
