5 stars I'm just a die hard fan of time traveling and not only that it involves Egypt. I rarely find books whose settings are in Egypt. At first, I didn't know that it involved time traveling and Egypt. The beginning started out as something regular and the meeting of Mari and Seth was quite different. A guy falling asleep in her lap. The attraction was there for Mari and it happened to Seth afterwards. Their relationship started as slow first because Seth was known as a player (but due to reasons) and Mari after having a bad relationship in high school was cautious of Seth. But as she hanged out with Seth she realizes there is more to Seth than just his image. She then also realized there is more to Seth especially when she learned of their nonexistent background plus an incident that happened which made Mari realized that Seth has a bigger secret and when she finds out it is something she never imagined. The characters were very likeable instantly. I like Mari's strong character and her stubbornness is just right that it doesn't make her character annoying. Her love for Seth is strong she would do anything to find and be with him even if it means traveling back to the past. Seth is just amazing. He is very sweet but has a strong character too. I loved that he loves Mari to the point he doesn't want to break her heart especially when he needs to go back and that his father has plans for him. His letter for Mari was very sweet and touching that I too cried with Mari. Did I mention the side characters were amazing as well. Ty and Dee showed a strong bond of friendship with Seth and that they will always be there to support him. Sim's personality may be opposite of Mari but they fit well together. Sim is supportive as well and I like how she encourages more like stubbornly let Mari be involved in having a joyful experience of life. I'm just sad to say that it took near the ending for the story to get to the point and that when it became more interesting it just ended. I also should have take heed of the warning of the author because when I read the preview of book 2 I was like nooooo!!!! I can't wait for Book 2 and read what happens next. I loved time travel romance and I really enjoyed reading this series because of it's uniqueness. I think this is the second YA I've read that involves time traveling because most time travel I've read were more historical. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down and when I've reached the ending I was like no! Luckily, I still have the last two books of the series and it wouldn't be a cliffhanger. I find that the life of Trent/Jeremy Astor totally unique and what he'd gained/ experienced is not the kind of bargain he would have in exchange for such a consequences but then again I doubt he would have met Cassie twice. Once in the past and the other in the present. I liked that the book contained dual POVs to understand these characters more especially Trent situation. It gives us readers a better understanding on how he deals with his life and how he views his relationships with Cassie. Despite wanting to protect Cassie from the dangers I hoped that if you love someone in his case he loves Cassie he would still want to be with her and enjoy her time and not dwell on the future and what if's but live in the present. I liked Cassie's character you can really relate to her with the typical teen problems but what I like about her is she has a strong resolve in things despite what she experienced in the past. They are perfect for each other and their romance is on the right pace for me but I would love to see more of them. And let's just say that I'm wishing for a twist to the story because Trent's choices although he thinks it's the best for Cassie isn't probably the right choice and I feel that because of his decision he would change everything to something worst. In a way, I'm both excited and dreading reading "Double Fault". I received a copy from YA Bound Book Tour in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading Rematch and couldn't wait to start reading "Double Fault". Double Fault is more about a parallel world, another path where Trent decided he could have prevented Cassie from being shot and would have live a better life than the previous one. Although Trent thinks he made the right choice until he tries living in this present parallel world where Cassie may or may not remember him and that his choice may actually done more harm than good. While Trent and Lorelai's past are catching up to them. *Spoiler Ahead* This takes about a twist in the whole story. Reliving a new life despite having the memories of the other life. I just can't imagine what Cassie's going through. I admit that I was a little sad because of Trent's choices, Cassie may have not made the right one but that's because she did not remember him. I was like please let their be another twist and turn to the story because apart from their relationship, Cassie's relationship with her friends and family weren't so good. In a way, I could kind of relate to her then but hers was worst although I wouldn't wish on anyone experiencing that but that's inevitable. I hated Jeff more. I hated him at "Rematch" and I hated him more now. I'm just glad that Cassie had a wake up call despite her and Jeff's relationship intimate relationship and wanting to keep it from Trent. That part I just couldn't understand. I mean if both Trent and Cassie loved each other they should be able to accept her past relationship with Jeff although I do understand about their point especially Cassie knowing and remembering about Trent so he could have been her first and only. Trent may have overreacted but that was also due to Jeff's ribbing, I'm proud that he was man enough to apologize to Cassie and I wish neither would blame each other just because. Although the twist to the end was something I wasn't expecting but at the same time I was wishing for a miracle to happen in order for them to have a better life. I'm glad they'll be able to work it out in the end. Although time traveling wasn't much mentioned here except those times it was still an enjoyable read especially the relationships in Cassie's life. It was nice to how it would turn out but I guess one lesson learned here is not to mess time. Trent should really have take heed of Bob's warning. • Deuce on Feb. 26, 2014

If you've read the book, you'll know why I gave 4 stars. It's finally the conclusion to the Vortex Series. In this final installment, "Deuce". Trent went back in time once again to change Cassie's life to live a third parallel life but little did both knew that Cassie's life would experienced dramatic changes. And that new dangers arises and this time it may end up with Trent losing someone. I really enjoyed reading this series and it makes me sad to think it has ended. Cassie may have just found the balance to living her third parallel life but all is not well with her relationship to Trent. That is to say, Trent is not under the good graces of Cassie's parents which kind of starts their trouble. Plus, Cassie also gained the ability to jump which ended up creating more problems for them. I was thinking what more is there and just when I thought I figured it out there's more. I loved that Trent is willing to do anything especially to teach Cassie how to control her jump and that Trent would take the downfall in order to protect her. I do understand Cassie's parents but even I would feel choked up in their restrictions. I'm glad that Cassie has a friend whose parents are awesome. I wished those reporters never existed they ruined everything. Well, they just ruined one part but I never expected that and I cried when that happened. Although I'm happy to see Cassie and Trent having their get together romance which lands them in bliss. I thought, "that's just so sweet". Then after that boom, their goes my tears. I won't say what happened but read it to find out. I also felt sad for this other guy. Well, I'm not saying his name because it would be obvious. Jeff... What can I say about him? Hmmm. I like him at the beginning and it turned sour in the middle near the end but when he finally matured and accepted Cassie's choice, I don't hate him that much. But I do want to say that the ending made a beautiful picture. It made me teary - eyed and I sighed, "Oh". Although I must say that there should be a warning label of tragedy here. For me, it should coz that bomb was suddenly dropped on my lap and I wanted to scream, "Noooooo!!!". The ending may be beautiful but it could not compensate for that part. As I read the last part of the book, I wished their was more. It was beautifully written even if I have to accept some parts in order for this series to have its ending. I received a copy from YA Bound Book Tour for the blog tour.
