If a bigfoot dies in the forest, but no one is there to see, does it still leave a body?
Sixteen-year-old Piper O’Connell knows the answer is yes.
She is part of an elite band of girls and women who possess the skills to destroy the bodies of dead bigfoot so the species won't be discovered by human hunters. Piper's role as a "scrub" is dangerous and must be kept secret from her family, friends, and school. That's not easy when bigfoot die at the most inconvenient times and in the most challenging locations. Piper's job is not without perks, though, and the best of them is her minder, Sam. Tall, dark, and handsome, he's tasked with keeping Piper safe when she goes in search of dead bigfoot. Sam is well suited to the job because he was raised in the forest by his bigfoot mother and has the knowledge to teach Piper how to navigate complex bigfoot society.
Piper is learning to juggle the responsibilities of a normal high school student, while protecting an undiscovered species, and still making it home in time for family dinner. It's a dirty job--literally, the woods are made of dirt--but someone's got to do it.
