Interview with Max Stravagar

Published 2019-01-16.
Why did you feel the need to give your readers a nick name?
I felt the publishing world was sleeping on this long overdue idea, so I decided to name my fan readers “The Scrablers” because I wanted to honor them in the way this new generation of millennial musicians and singers have today.
Are you where you want to be in your career?
Not even close but I’m sure I will get there, however, if I don’t my happiness doesn’t depend on it. I’m like a lot of people who are not satisfied with their job or career position.
Have you ever come across any of your fans?
Yes, their great for some reason I tend to meet them at sports bars and ball parks
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean a lot to me.
How did you come about creating a new genre?
I notice everything thing I wrote was something the reader have not read or seen in films, twenty plus years ago I wrote about ago a gangsta who is killed tragically and is giving the ability to make his way to heaven, it was a novel idea now you see it in entertainment. Mix genres are my thing it makes thing interesting.
What is the name of your Genre for those who do not know?
Its call New Crime fiction, no relations with modern crime fiction, although it has more in common with Crime novel then anything.

New Crime-Fiction (noo, nu), adj. (krim), n. 1. a crime committed in a unique or new fashion 2. a distinct theme, plot and motif not ubiquitous to crime fiction or its subgenres and may incorporate elements or cross over all other genres.
What was the feeling like when you first got published?
Well in grade school, both my poems were published however, one of the two was stolen and it reach number #1 in the school magazine book and lead to a real publishing contract; the effect or fallout would be felt for years, I literally lost billions of Ideals worth, so it took a really long time to write stories again however, I knew I could not let it get me down, when I self published 2007 and 2010 the feeling was happiness and joy, I kick backed my chair and videotaped it for proof, later I celebrated with a beer and watched a few football games I missed. : )
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happen to you?
As a teen I got addicted to soaps opera’s which are one step away from a chick flick, I love them a lot the film legally blond is my favorite, the genre helps to fuel some of my creative writing, once I got caught watching a CFF, and gotten ragged on by my bros, after that I now admit it freely and every morning I jump out of by bed an yell “I love chick flicks!” just don’t tell anybody keep this between us ok lol
What is your writing process?
I watch a lot of everything from T.V/Films/Cable all the while critiquing each scene and plot, it fuels my writing so much, sometimes I have to much to play with...I welcome the burden lol
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The life of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. It had not a single impact on my written career...however, my political dreams was born.
How do you approach cover design?
If I see a cover I like, it inspires me to design my own. The Spiritzoo cover was inspired by "The Godfather" cover.
What was the writen process like for your first book?
When I completed my first draft I thought I was done, I was wrong, that was back in 1995. I decided to put it away because the second draft was a total mess I intended to work on it for another time, after the 911 attacks I thought it was time again, the spiritrisen has gone under a few other names In 2005 - 2007 I tried to self publish it on amazon but could not because of their logging confussion and limitation, I self pubished it on myspace and other small book sites similar to amazon and smashwords, 2006 was the year l finally felt like a true author.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I do not a five favorite books I hardly read books. I much prefer to see the film or hear it on audio.
