Interview with SF Mazhar

Published 2015-04-10.
What are you working on next?
Book Three, Thicker Than Water, of my Power of Four series. I'm also focusing on completing the rewrite of my first HP fanfiction on Fanfiction.net
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My love to write and my eagerness for others to read what I've written.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean everything. What good is a writer if there's no one to read their work?
Who are your favorite authors?
JK Rowling. Anthony Horowitz. Philip Pullman.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Playing with my kids, taking care of the hubby or spending time with my sisters.
What is your writing process?
Listen to a lot of music, watch a lot of movies, talk out plot points with my youngest sister and then sit down to write.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The Darkness Within. A Harry Potter fanfiction.
Describe your desk
Don't have one. I write on my laptop, sitting on the sofa
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPad.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland. When you have the kind of weather we have in good ol' Glasgow, you kinda have to come up with something to do indoors. For me, this meant reading and more reading. Writing came to me because of my love for reading.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's the continuation of the first book, Run To Earth. It follows Aaron as he, along with the rest of the mages, prepare for the war with Hadrian. Aaron finally gets some answers from his parents, but it's not what he expected. The leader of the mages, Neriah takes an interest in Aaron and reveals some interesting and potentially dangerous facts about him.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Tremendously. Having so many platforms available for the ebook is great.
