Interview with Chiara Talluto

Published 2021-02-16.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The art of creating imaginary character and circumstances and being able to put them on a page for others to enjoy. It's the euphoria of fantasy and reality, fear and happiness, and challenges and successes all rolled up into a ball of emotion that must be released.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
It's a fresh new day to create.
Who are your favorite authors?
Eric Wilson, Mich Albom, Richard Paul Evans, Nicholas Sparks, David Baldacci, Adriana Trigiani, and countless others. I enjoy reading authors whose characters struggle with life decisions. That is the kind of writing that I like to do. Real human circumstances with real consequences.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean so much to me. A validation of the effort of creating something that they can immerse themselves and become, even if it's for a short time.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was in high school. I wrote about a motorcycle rider who gets hit by a car for my Italian class.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Through Amazon new reads and Goodreads.
What do you read for pleasure?
Mainly fiction.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle or a tablet. Never my phone. Too small to hold for reading.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I've posted on Goodreads, did giveaway through there. Post updates via Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, attended author events. These are all grass-root efforts. Sometimes it has been successful, other times not. I've done launch parties, have had book professionally reviewed, etc. Still to try is virtual blog tours.
Describe your desk
Piles and stacks of notebooks and papers. But, it is organized.
When did you first start writing?
In high school.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The flexibility and freedom to create stories and publish the projects from written word to marketing and promoting.
