Interview with Delenn Jadzia
Published 2017-09-09.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love having someone read what I wrote and knowing it affected them. Perhaps it caused them to rethink a pre-existing idea, or perhaps they just snorted at a bad pun I wrote. Either way, my words changed their day.
How do you approach cover design?
I generally choose a font that I feel fits the book a long time before I even think about cover art. Then by the time I go to design the cover, I have a pre-existing "vibe" of sorts from the font, and I can work from there.
Who are your favorite authors?
It changes with each amazing book I read.
What is your writing process?
I use writing to procrastinate doing other things, so I don't have a proper writing process. When I write, though, it involves notes on random paper surfaces, rough outlines, and late nights.
What do your fans mean to you?
Anyone who spends time to consume to content I create means the world to me.
What are you working on next?
I have about ten works-in-progress, so I'll give the general answer of 60% chance of science-fiction, 30% chance of fantasy, and 10% chance of general YA.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Improvement.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Learning how to be a better writer and scientist. (University.)
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was incredibly horrible and had absolutely no conflict. I'm so glad I wrote it, though, because it led me to where I am.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Well, I only have one e-reader device, so it tends to be my favorite. It's a Nook Simple Touch.
