Interview with Kalita Kasar

Published 2013-12-18.
What do you read for pleasure?
I have eclectic tastes ranging from glbt romance and erotica, to history books and cook books. Most of the time you will find me curled up with a good fiction book and a block of chocolate, though. As long as the story line is engaging I'm happy!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I come from an Irish/Welsh background and lived in a family of story tellers. One of our favourite pass times was to tell progressive stories around a camp fire, or in front of a blazing hearth at my uncle's home or my grand father's camp sites. The smell of wood smoke, the murmur of voices and the magic of creating a world, a story and people to live within it...that's what has turned me into the writer I am today.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Becoming lost in my characters and their lives. It is pure escapism for me.
What do your fans mean to you?
Absolutely everything! They keep me going, their comments inspire me to try again and try harder. I love reviews, even bad ones. There's always something a writer can learn.
What are you working on next?
I have plans in the pipeline for a five story arc series. I don't like to talk too much about a story before it is written though, so you will just have to stay tuned for more!
Who are your favorite authors?
Jodi Picoult, Bryce Courtenay, T.C. Blue, AKM Miles, Zathyn Priest and a host of others too numerous to name.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Usually, I spend my time daydreaming about what adventures I can go on with some new character I have met. That, and laundry, exercise, tending to my garden and all that other mundane stuff we all have to do.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I get a lot of emails from ebook stores where I have purchased before and there is nearly always something in them to tempt my fancy.
Describe your desk
If I could find it under all the mess, I would. :)
