I am mainly a stay at home mom. I have two daughters that keep me on the rode from activity to activity. Some recent endeavors with family have awaken my literary voice so I decided there is no time like the present and embarked on the adventure of making a few books with my six year old, Brianna.
Willow, a shadow puppet, visits her friends and travels the world making new ones. She is created by my daughter Brianna Parker's hands, age 6, along with all of her animal friends. Brianna worked incredible hard to learn how make each shadow puppet you see in the books, taking great care to make sure each one was the best she could do. Each book can be read independently or you can enjoy them as a collection.
The series started with the idea to make a single book with some encouragement from family we went ahead and took the leap. Making first a paperback version of Willow Visits Her Friends and following that with the eBook version. The story is suited for early readers, kindergarten to first grade level with basic to intermediate vocabulary skills.
We then decided that we would make another Willow adventure. Brianna worked just as hard on the shadow puppets that fill Willow Travels the World. The story in this one is suited more for first grade to second grade level readers with intermediate level vocabulary skills.
This book has a simple story with intermediate level sentences and vocabulary.
It contains a photograph of how my daughter made each shadow puppet animal with her hands so the reader can try to make them on their own.
The story follows Willow's friends as they journey to a surprise party for her.
It can be read alone or as part of the series.
