Des Burkinshaw

Biography

Des is a former Times journalist and BBC TV producer/director based in Hackney, East London. He is also a musician and composer. "Dead & Talking" is his debut novel, first in a planned series of mysteries with a supernatural twist.
He has made documentaries, written features, put out 2 albums, directed & produced massive live events, but thinks writing a novel was the hardest job of the lot.
His written work has been published by the British Academy, Mojo and The Times. Programmes he has produced include Glastonbury and the Mercury Music Prize. He has interviewed everyone from Noam Chomsky to Michael Caine, and been lucky enough to jam with everyone from Paul McCartney to Brian Wilson. On their own pianos. In their own home studios.
He has read 3-5 books a week since he was growing up on a council estate in Luton, and thinks it was about time he started writing some himself.
