Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
Following Ireland's recession, everyone was looking for people to blame. Luckily there were plenty, and the media went at them heel-for-leather. There was an atmosphere of such vitriol and disbelief, I felt I had to try and tap into it.
Unfortunately it took me longer than I expected to finalise the 'Debtribution', and recession-fatigue has probably crept in by now, but hopefully there''s still enough anger there to push up my sales :D
Plus I have always been good at getting cheap laughs, of which the book has many.
How do you approach cover design?
I had a concept in mind, but unfortunately didn't have the skills to do it justice. I threw together a dodgy mock-up, showed it to my buddy, who showed it to his brother-in-law, who happens to be a celebrated graphic designer.
He then threw it together for me for free, because it was 'a fun visual to do'. :D

A serial killer is picking off Ireland's corrupt elite. Brian Doyle, an overweight, unmotivated, middle-aged Garda, is the man tasked with catching him. But does anyone even want him to? Debtribution is a humorous 'what-if' examination of Irish society. Complete with vomit, kinky sex, property, and the Catholic Church, it is a must-read for every true proud Irish soul.
