J.L. Mejias

Biography

J.L. Mejias is a gentleman and a scholar from East Harlem, NY.

Playing The Field is his first published novel and has been a long time in the making. The characters in this story lived within him as far back as he could remember, so to finally get them down on paper is truly exhilarating.

A love of reading and writing goes back to early grade school, but it was upon reading Down These Mean Streets by Piri Thomas that the idea of being a writer as a life's calling was spawned. Through the natural peaks and valleys of life, triumphs and tragedy, the life's calling was put on hold.

On hold it is no longer! The calling is stronger than ever and I feel now that to not write would be to not fully live. I want to bring people to emotion, whatever that emotion may be. Hopefully tears of laughter or sadness. But something.

"You can't call yourself a writer, until you actually write. You can't call yourself an author, until you're actually published."

I hope you enjoy my books.
