I have never written a review on Smashwords until now. I was so appalled by the outcome of this book. I'm an avid reader of everything BDSM and erotica and I have to say this book was painful and not in a good way. This is the first work I've read from this author and I really wanted to love it and read the entire series. I tend to gravitate towards well written series and I'm a loyal reader once I find an author I love. This however was a big let down for me, because while the story is well written, the characters are hard to fall in love with. This is the first time I've spent the entire book hoping and praying Suzanna (our heroine) would leave and never look back, that she would stop letting herself be controlled with sex. Normally that's the fun bit. This time it was just frustrating. Brendan (our would be hero) is somewhat wealthy and has a bit of notoriety, thus his behaviour in the beginning is understandable to a point. But then he becomes less and less attractive every time he says something disrespectful and hurtful. Their association (Brendan repeatedly makes sure Suzanna knows she is not and will never be his girlfriend...just wait till you find out why) is sorely lacking any substance and Brendan does not seem to have any redeeming qualities. There were so many moments where he disrespects her and his ultimatum around the future of their "relationship" turned my stomach. And as for the big finish.....we get insult added to injury...Brendan asks Suzanna to do something to prove she's committed to him. And SHE SAYS YES! Un-f@$!ing-believable. I'm still angry and absolutely refuse to read any more from this series though I haven't yet given up on this author.
