Leslie Whitaker
Biography
Leslie Whitaker is a very versatile spoken-word poet/Author. She was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. She won The Lorain public library poetry slam in 2013 with her poem "Can I ask you a Question?" She placed second in "The Open Stage" open mic contest in Cleveland, Ohio in 2014. She recited poetry at the International Festival with the African Royalty dance group in 2016. She was a poet of the year nominee for "The Ohio Entertainment Awards" in Cleveland, Ohio in 2019. Leslie recited her poem "Unity" for the NAACP Lorain chapter in June 2020. She is most active on her #luvleethoughts page on Facebook and #luvleethoughts page on Instagram. She writes and recites poetry for birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, valentine's day formals, funerals, visuals, and a variety of events throughout Lorain County and surrounding areas.
