Unathi Mabunda
Biography
Unathi Mabunda is a gifted author, emcee, minister and keynote speaker. She is an advocate for social change who is inspiring nations through words. Born in Soweto at Baragwanath Hospital and grew up in the village of Ludlow in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga in South Africa. The first of five children, she and her siblings were raised by her late single mother. It was during this time that she observed and learnt about the strength that lies in a woman.
Besides being an eloquent speaker, she is also a skillful writer and her debut book ‘Girls Prepare. Boys show up’, is a true testament to her talent. In her book she challenges the “two by two ideology”, although; Unathi is not anti-married she believes not all will marry and that is okay. Our life's mission is not to perpetually be on a quest to find our “better half”, but to live effectively in every season of life.
Unathi is also a born-again Christian who loves God and is a passionate minister of His word. She maintains that women should be preachers. As an advocate for social change, Unathi has founded a female empowerment movement called She Evolution Foundation. Through the organisation (solely run and funded by herself), she impacts her surrounding communities by hosting female upliftment workshops regularly, where issues such as emotional and physical abuse, and how to advance one’s self; are dealt with. She Evolution foundations also does charitable work, by providing school uniforms, sanitary pads and other necessities; to underprivileged children through the year. The foundation ap tly demonstrates that impacting people 95 starts with the individual sharing what they have with others. In addition to being a deft wordsmith, Unathi’s academic credentials include completing a B.Com. Law degree, an Honours in Business Management, and a postgraduate degree in Risk Management. She is also a mom, a sister and a student of life. Unathi, currently resides in Phalaborwa town, Limpopo province in South Africa.
