I was the 14th son of a one-parent family of shepherds, largely supported by the pocketed springs of a mattress loved by geckos all over the Antarctic wilds of Borneo.

After completing some of these stories I had to take a cold shower and get a chiropractic adjustment. For some of the others I was interned in the local psychiatric hospital, which was fortunately run by scantily clad nubile Indonesian maids, so I survived. This book comprises some of my most experimental and simply mental short stories.

Platinum Flowers, the longest story in this book, is a story whose dusky setting came from a dream. A dream in which I visited a Baroque mountain city that was a magical blend of Rio De Janiero, Barcelona and the South-east Asian temples of Ankar Wat. That much is true, but the mystical erotic story that was inspired from that dream became a wild self-generating fantasy.

Modern fairytales, like traditional fairytales, have magic, romance, heroes and heroines, villains, and significant morals or lessons in life. But they are set in today’s world and adopt current ideas and values. These stories loosely follow this distinction but occasionally venture beyond. Many of them are set in modern Japan, where I lived for 3 years.

Siamese Nation is one of about twenty short stories: serious, irreverent and satirical, which explore the inventions and commonly assigned aspects of the biblical god. Whether the biblical god exists or not has no real relevance as these stories explore wild creation possibilities, and have fun with God’s so-called attributes of mercy, omnipotence and omniscience.
