This is a book you won't be able to put down. Robin Hillard has been through a great deal in her twenty-six years, including an abusive marriage that nearly destroyed her. But she survived it all. And when she meets her Prince Charming in Dr. Matthew Gregory, it appears all of the darkness is in the past. However, just as the newlyweds are settling into their renovated 1800's farm house, a new kind of darkness threatens. Robin and Matthew must stand together against an adversary they can hardly believe is even real. It will take every once of their faith and courage to survive the dark presence lurking in their home. As well as a warm and realistic love story, I found The Fine Line to be an interesting study of spirituality and an exploration of the many types of darkness people can face in their lives. At times, I felt there was more detail about the house or clothing than was needed. But I personally prefer to imagine those details when I am reading where others may find this much detail helpful. And I felt maybe the paranormal part of the book (which is where this author really shines) could have begun sooner in the story because, again, Ford is truly gifted when it comes to her depiction of the paranormal. This is a well-written story that moves at a good pace. The fact that Robin and Matthew's relationship seems so normal and real adds to the shock felt when things become spooky and spiritual later in the book. Somehow, the author manages to perfectly meld the extremely ordinary with the eerie and spiritual. This was an excellent first novel for this series by Tracee Ford.

I read this book twice and loved it both times. In this tale, the author takes the reader on a frightening journey down a dark and twisted path with Dr. Lauren Harris, a renowned forensic psychologist. With the help of her new partner, Nick Bennette of the FBI, Lauren struggles to catch a cold-hearted serial killer known as The Phantom. Lauren has a special secret that may be the key to solving this series of hideous crimes--she is an empath--she can speak with the dead. Tracee Ford shows her talent for the paranormal once again. I truly enjoyed the cast of characters, especially Lauren and Nick. All of the characters in this book are very believable. And the romance builds from warm to steamy at the perfect pace. Lauren's personal struggle with the loss of her parents and the special bond she has with her family and friends helps to make this story relatable in spite of the paranormal aspect. This book is a wonderful mix of romance, fun, mystery, and the paranormal that I would highly recommend.
